FALL 2019 – WEEK 2 @ HOLY TRINITY HIGH SCHOOL

DIRECT ELEVATOR (24) v SCUGOG SPORTSWARE (19)

This was Scugog’s show in the first half with QB Mike Bezzant dropping bombs for 3 consecutive scoring drives, including a deep corner to Matt Johnson for a 65-yard scoring play.  Down by 3 scores, Direct elevated their game and played shut down defense in the 2nd half, while an excitable QB Buzz Bezzant responded with 3 consecutive scoring drives of his own.  After the dramatic comeback it was Direct Elevator on top at the end of 4 quarters.  Mike Devine added to his league leading point tally with another 2 TD’s in this win for Direct, now sitting on a comfortable 2-0 record after 2 weeks of play.

GAME LEADERS:

DIRECT – Mike Devine (2 TD), Josh Devine (1 TD, 2 XP), Mike Sperling (4 XP), Jonah Hardinge (1 Sack).

SCUGOG – Bryan Earle (1 TD), Matt Johnson (1 TD), Benjamin Masson (1 TD), Cameron Stevenson (1 PAT).

HAMPTON REGAL (8) v BRENT’S PLUMBING (32)

Hampton was in tough from the get-go, being short staffed and up against a well-equipped Brent’s squad – but it got allot tougher quickly with some unforced errors resulting in turnovers early in the game.  Brent’s was quick to capitalize as QB Rick Pottle was able to expose every open spot on the field, creating favorable matchups and scoring opportunities.  Brandon Pottle had a decent stat line (not bad, for BP…) with 2 TD’s, 2 XP and an INT, while ETFL rookie Chris Miller also stood out (2 TD, 1 INT).  Hampton managed a TD and a 2-point conversion to eliminate the shut-out but were not sharp enough or well-manned enough to compete today.  Brent’s puts their 2-0 record up against a stacked RPM Online offense in Week 3.

GAME LEADERS:

HAMPTON – Darcy Lavoie (1 TD), Kyle Shaw (2 XP, 1 INT), Mike McNeill (1 INT).

BRENT’S – Brandon Pottle (2 TD, 2 XP, 1 INT), Christopher Miller (2 TD, 1 INT), Eric Robinson (1 TD), Drew Pottle (1 INT), Michael Smith (1 INT), Evan Woodcock (1 INT).

RPM ONLINE (24) v MOODY CONSTRUCTION (14)

Wow!  You typically might see one incredible catch a week in the ETFL, but the RPM Online boys were straight-up putting on a show - Andrew Pingz and A-Mac taking center stage in this one.  It’s difficult to contain this combination when they’re lighting it up, as we saw in Spring 2019, and with QB Buzz Bezzant slinging the rock (filling in for QB Ricardo) they were downright unstoppable.  Moody QB Shane Ruest made his first official start as a QB1 in the ETFL and made an impact with the deep ball, finding targets like Cole Lafoy and Allister Gundy for big gains to keep this a competitive game.  Down by 10 late in the 4th, Moody’s final attempts to score were stymied by RPM’s offense, who although were not as flashy, were equally as effective as their offense.  The show continues next Week as RPM takes on 2-0 Brent’s Plumbing!

GAME LEADERS:

RPM – Andrew Pingz (1 TD, 1 FG, 3 XP), Adrian McIntosh (1 TD), Andrew Blair (1 TD), Dominic Fata (1 INT).

MOODY – Cole Lafoy (1 TD), Steven Waterson (1 TD), Shane Ruest (2 XP).
